MBBS, FRACGP-RG, AACEM, Adv. Cert. Musculoskeletal & Sports Medicine

I’m a Rural Generalist with more than 20 years of clinical experience in acute, emergency and rural medicine.

My clinical work focuses particularly on musculoskeletal and sports-related presentations, acute presentations and emergency care, while maintaining the breadth that comes with rural generalist practice.

My medical career has included work across tertiary, metropolitan, regional and rural hospitals, emergency departments, intensive care and community practice. My experience has included roles at Grampians Health, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and a range of regional health services, among others. I also continue to work in rural hospital settings, contributing to acute and inpatient care, escalation and transfer where clinically required.

A significant part of my clinical practice has taken place across Northeast Victoria, where I have worked in regional and rural hospitals in acute and inpatient care roles, as well as in alpine environments during the winter season.

Musculoskeletal and sports medicine has become a central part of my practice. I assess joint, tendon, muscle and soft tissue presentations, acute and overuse injuries, osteoarthritis and activity-related conditions. My approach is centred on careful clinical assessment, understanding functional limitations and developing an individual management plan. I also use point-of-care ultrasound as part of my clinical assessment in selected cases. Other imaging may be requested where clinically indicated, and selected ultrasound-guided procedures may form part of management where clinically appropriate.

My interest in the area is also personal. Cycling has been part of my life for many years and has shaped my appreciation of movement, recovery, overuse injuries and the importance of remaining active throughout life.

Working across different communities and clinical environments has shaped a practical, adaptable approach to medicine, with an emphasis on clear communication, clinical judgement and care that reflects the circumstances and goals of the individual patient.

I also maintain an interest in clinical governance and healthcare systems, and in models of care that are clinically useful, sustainable and well designed.

Outside medicine, I enjoy philosophy, cycling, travel and good coffee.
